Breaking the Mold with a 29er Bike
As the first "plus" bike to hit the market, Krampus changed the way many people approach trail riding. It's shown people the light of how high volume, large diameter tires can vastly improve the ride experience. It's also done a bang-up job dispelling the myth that big tires make you slow.
Krampus is kind of like the opposite of a mullet: long in the front and short in the rear. With a long toptube and compact chainstays, it takes trail-shredding abilities to the next level. A mullet may be business in the front, party in the back but Krampus makes partying its business.

Lowside is the bike that gets you across town for a quick rip on singletrack, then over to the bar for a night out.
Your BMX Bike All Grown Up
Lowside is like the grownup version of the bike you rode when you were a kid and still had hopes and dreams and some semblance of ambition. It's just as happy riding singletrack as it is parked outside your favorite drinking establishment.
Lowside is a single speed mountain bike. Singlespeeding has been a part of Surly's DNA since day one when we launched the 1x1 Rat Ride. After a lot of Homie Fall Fests and more feats of strength than we can recall, we decided to discontinue it a couple years back. Lowside picks up right where the 1x1 left off.
"Some have dubbed the Lowside the ultimate pub cruiser."
- Modern trail standards: dropper post compatibility, 44mm headtube, Gnot-Boost rear spacing, thru-axles
- Compatibility with most mountain bike standards makes it the perfect parts bin bike (no rim brakes allowed though)
- Spec'd in alternating years with 26 x 3" or 27.5 x 2.8" tires, the Lowside remains capable of running either option

Flavor-enhanced, offering a longer top tube and slacker angles
If we have to use the category buzzwords the industry keeps inventing, the Juice is a "downcountry" or "trail" bike. We describe it as a fun bike that is very comfortable on a single track, flowy trails, and general backwood exploring. Its medium-length wheelbase also makes it a stable platform for bike-packing.
The latest version features tough IRD Broski Sliding Dropouts that allow you to go single-speed or geared or even run hub gears and alter ride characteristics slightly by adjusting the chainstay length. Fits up to 27.5 x 2.8" wide tires without needing to invest in Boost parts. Hasn't abandoned front derailleur compatibility.
Another unusual option: the Juice is available in a belt-drive-ready version.
- Tange Prestige heat-treated butted CrMo steel; butted CrMo rear end
- Geometry is optimized for 100mm travel 29" forks and will handle 120mm forks great, too
- Standard or Belt-Drive compatible versions available (split for installing belt is on the seat stay.)
- IRD Broski Sliding Dropouts allow geared and single-speed builds with easy wheel removal
– These currently come ready for 142 x 12mm Thru-Axle hubs. (Can be converted to 135mm spacing for traditional QR hubs with IRD aftermarket inserts)
- Rear rack and fender eyelets
- CNC-machined 44mm headtube: Will take 1-1/8" steerers with a ZeroStack 44 headset or tapered steerers with a ZS44 upper assembly and external cup (EC44) lower assembly
- 31.6mm post size/34.9mm frt. der. size/34.9mm seat collar/73mm bottom bracket (English threads); 400mm+ post recommended
- Internal cable routing on the seat tube for a dropper post
- ISO disc brake tabs
- Cable routing for top pull front derailleur
- Recommended tire size: 29" x 2.4" (or 27.5 x 2.8”)
- Color: Battleship Gray
- 5.19lbs (15.5")

The Riff is our hardtail frame for 27.5"/650b wheels. Geometry is ideal for single-track, flowy trails, and bikepacking. Tough IRD Broski Sliding Dropouts allow you to go single-speed or geared or even run hub gears. While the industry is telling everyone to get "Boost", the Riff lets you run an OLD 142mm thru-axle (or even 135mm QR with a different insert). Another retro feature: you can use a front derailleur if you want.
Its most unusual option: The Riff is offered in a belt-drive-ready version.
- Tange Prestige heat-treated butted CrMo main tubes
- 12x142mm thru-axle (thru-axle included)
- 44mm head tube for tapered steerer tubes (tapered steerer forks will require an EC44 lower headset cup, straight steerer forks can use a ZS44 lower cup)
- Accommodates a 100/120mm travel fork (69-degree head angle with 100mm fork, 68-degree head angle with 120mm fork)
- Fits up to 27.5 x 2.8" tires
- International Standard disc brake mounts

We Love Hardtails.
The AKA is a proper mountain bike. A pedal up, pedal along, blitz down kind of affair with familiar geometry inspired by the big-hitting Mettle. Take it to the flow trails at your local trail center, go off-piste, or take it to your local BMX track – it’ll put a smile on your face.
You’d think making a hardtail was as simple as picking a few decent geometry numbers, throw it together, and away you go… if only it was that easy. In fact, hardtails get steeper at sag, so we put a package together that ticks all the boxes with that in mind. A slack head angle, and comfortable seat tube angle, and a low bottom bracket put you ‘in’ the bike and in the thick of it. The AKA is the culmination of years of design experience, tweaking, and adapting the design until we were happy.
Chuck a set of 27.5" wheels in it with a 140mm fork, or some 29" wheels with a 120mm fork. The same frame can handle both without sacrifice allowing for unlimited potential. With tire clearance up to 2.6" multiple water bottle mounts, and an adjustable drop out for running it singlespeed…
Hold on, what’s that?
Our ADS sliding dropouts on the AKA and Dr. Jekyll were actually designed and in our vaults for a couple of years prior to working on the new hardtails. We wanted to make something new and tidy with a built-in tensioner that offers 15mm of adjustment. It gives you the choice to run the bike with gears, without, or in a long or short chain stay, the brake caliper also moves with the axle, so no matter what, it always stays aligned with the rotor, win.
- Triple bottle cage mount inside the front triangle for adjustable bottle placement or extra storage for longer adventures. Another bottle cage mount is located under the downtube
- Threaded BB with ISCG-05 tabs, Boost 148mm dropouts, and internal dropper post routing
- Headset compatibility ZS44 upper, ZS56 lower
- Seatpost 30.9mm, seat clamp 34.9mm

The current generation Dr Jekyll is built for shredding the local trails, skate parks, 4x, or pump track. With custom geometry offering short, adjustable chain stays and a choice in sizes.
